Premier chairs work meeting on government restructuring

Manama, Mar. 15 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa chaired here today a work meeting which he devoted to discussing the restructuring of the government in accordance with the needs of the next phase, and in order to achieve the royal directives in this regard. Premier chairs work meeting on government restructuring Local Manama, Mar. 15 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa chaired here today a work meeting which he devoted to discussing the restructuring of the government in accordance with the needs of the next phase, and in order to achieve the royal directives in this regard. The work meeting discussed ways to achieve the goals of the government re-structuring through action plans and executive programmes that will be devised in accordance with the national priorities and a specified schedule to increase the productivity of the government apparatus and reduce its large size that, he said, is not commensurate with the requirements and challenges of the current phase. HRH the Prime Minister reviewed a number of ideas and options to reduce the number of ministries and government departments, and merge some of them without affecting the Government Action Plan to which the government is committed. The restructuring will be consistent with the economic vision of the kingdom and its future policies in the midst of the current challenges, particularly the economic ones, the Premier added. HRH Premier gave directives to form a committee, under the chairmanship of Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, to study the recommendations and submit proposals to him.
