HM King, UN Secretary-General discuss latest developments

Amman, Mar. 29 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today received at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, on the sidelines of the 28th Arab Summit. Ways to promote the ongoing cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the UN were discussed, as well as benefiting from the UN expertise in various fields. HM the King stressed Bahrain's keenness on boosting cooperation with the UN organizations to attain more progress, development and prosperity. He noted the outstanding achievements made by the Kingdom of Bahrain at all levels in the interest of the people of Bahrain. HM the King commended the UN Secretary General's efforts in strengthening the international security, stability and peace and in achieving the UN's comprehensive objectives. He also lauded the UN's role in addressing environment and natural disasters, wars and poverty, as well as preserving the environment, providing humanitarian services and its strive to disseminate the values of friendship, cooperation and tolerance among the people of the world. The meeting also reviewed the latest regional and international developments and the UN's endeavours to bolster peace and stability. HM the King pointed out the UN's vital role in resolving international issues, wishing the UN Secretary-General further successes. The UN Secretary-General highlighted Bahrain's role and contributions under the royal leadership to maintain security and stability in the region and the world.
