BANGKOK, April 1 (TNA) -- Thailand's public, private, and farming sectors are joining hands to encourage Thai people to consume eggs every day which is part of an effort for the second consecutive year to promote egg consumption in the kingdom. The Association of Hen-Egg Farmers, Traders, and Exporters, Layer Poultry Farmer Association, and Southern Layer Poultry Farmer Society have worked together to continue the project to encourage Thais to consumer up to 300 eggs per person per year for the second year in a row. Chairman of the Egg Consumption Promotion Campaign Committee Rewat Hataisattayapong said that in 2016, the committee has sought out cooperation from the private and public sectors, as well as egg farmers to launch the campaign in line with the egg strategy of 2014-2018 instilling the correct knowledge on the nutrition from eggs among the Thai people. The objective was to encourage more consumption of eggs to 300 eggs per person per year, where the campaign has been well received by all concerned sectors. The project has been publicised through the three Ons, including On-air, On-Line, and On-Ground, under the theme, "Everyone Can Consume Eggs Everyday". The campaign has already launched a TV commercial advertisment named, "Believe Me Daughter", followed by a Facebook page called, "Give Me Some Eggs" or "Khor Khai", where activities about the project and knowledge about eggs were posted, in collaboration with eight leading food webpages which presented various egg recipes, along with poster advertisements on the street to encourage more eggs consumption. The project was proven to be a great success, where the advertisements were recorded to have reached out to as much as 10 million people nationwide. A survey by YouGov, an international Internet-based market research firm with its headquarters in the UK, on the other hand, revealed that most consumers believe eggs could be eaten every day, while the elderly believe the could consume more than two eggs per week and eggs do not increase the level of cholesterol. Thais were now consume up to 240 eggs per person every year from the previous figure of 220 eggs per person annually. (TNA)
