President urges Vientiane to overcom e financial crisis

(KPL) President Choummaly Sayasone, urged the city fathers of Vientiane to strive to overcome the current financial crisis.
“If we can overcome this difficult period then it means that we can save as much as half of our national economy from falling into a recessionary state,” said Mr Choummaly when he visited Vientiane office, on 3 February.
Mr Choummaly was given a briefing on the effects of global financial crisis and how the government is trying to solve this problem but this, the briefing officer said is not an easy task.
Mr Choummaly said that the solution to the problem is for the Vientiane Party Board to mobilize the members of the community to become the owners of production but in the meantime the people should be devoted to carrying out certain national objectives such as hosting the 25th Sea Games and the 450th anniversary of the foundation of Vientiane celebration.
At this meeting the president also urged the leading officials of Vientiane to coordinate with relevant ministries to solve problems relating to policies on social-economics and budget.
Sombath Yealyheu, Vientiane Mayor reported to the president on how the state is implementing the budget for the fiscal year 2008-2009 and the resolutions passed during the last meeting of the 8th Party Congress.
