Russia to complete arms deliveries to Venezuela by yearend
RIO DE JANEIRO, April 5. /TASS/. Russia plans to carry through a package of over ten contracts for the delivery of armaments to Venezuela by the yearend, Deputy Director of Russia’s Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation Anatoly Punchuk told TASS on Wednesday.
Punchuk is heading the Russian delegation at the LAAD-2017 international defense and security exhibition in Brazil.
"The implementation of a package of over ten contracts concluded with Venezuela in 2009 has been actually completed. The armor, missile and artillery armament, air defense systems and accompanying military equipment have been delivered to Venezuelan partners. The delivery of the remaining armament and military hardware under them is planned to be completed this year," Punchuk said.
Venezuela is interested in the provision of proper after-sale services for the supplied military products and the delivery of spare parts and components, he said.
"We are also receiving separate applications from Venezuelan partners for the delivery of small batches of military products," he added.
The LAAD-2017 international Latin American defense and security exhibition will be held in Rio de Janeiro on April 4-7. A total of 367 companies from 36 states have expressed their desire to take part in it.
The Russian exposition organized by the state arms exporter Rosoboronexport will feature the products of 23 contractors, 11 of which will demonstrate mockup models of advanced military hardware, including the Yak-130 combat training plane, the Mil Mi-28NE combat helicopter, the Kamov Ka-226T rotocraft, the Ansat light multipurpose helicopter, the Tor-M2KM short-range antiaircraft missile system, the Project 20382 corvette Tigr, the Project 12200 patrol boat Sobol and other materiel.
