Petroleum safety training centre to open in Vung Tau

Ba Ria-Vung Tau (VNA) - A global provider of health, safety and rescue training
services will open a new training centre in Vung Tau, working with local partners
Mermaid Maritime Vietnam and Laternative Company.

Falck Nutec's new centre will become the first training provider in Vietnam to
be certified by the Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organisation, a
widely-recognised training standards and competence organisation.

The centre will be located next to the premises of Mermaid Maritime Vietnam and
offer a range of products and services to the offshore, marine and aviation
industries.

Wan Shukry, regional managing director of Falck Nutec's Far East Asian activities,
said: "With this development, those engaged in the industry will no longer have to
look outside the country for the critical and specialised safety training that is
needed for the expanding sector."

The centre is expected to open in April and will be able to immediately take on up
to 5,000 students annually.

The centre is a joint venture in which Falck Nutec has 80 percent of its shares,
Mermaid Maritime Vietnam 15 percent and Alternative Company 5 percent.

Ngo Xuan Binh, managing director of Alternative Company, who has visited a Falck
Nutec's training centre in Esbjerg , Denmark , said: "This kind of training will
help Vietnamese enterprises upgrade their workplace safety conditions to
international standards and thereby provide a robust support to the local oil and
gas industry in its expansion into international market.-Enditem
