Two divers found after seven hour search

Two American divers have been rescued seven hours after they went missing on the
Great Barrier Reef.
Water police coordinated an air and sea search for the man and woman aged in their
40s after they failed to return to their dive boat an hour after entering the water
about 10am (AEST) on Friday near Lizard Island.
Police said a search helicopter sighted the pair about 5pm (AEST) on Friday, eight
nautical miles from where they were last seen.
They were picked up about 20 minutes later.
"They're safe and in good spirits," a police spokesman said.
Earlier, Craig Stephen from Mike Ball Dive Expeditions told the ABC that the pair
were experienced divers and were carrying safety equipment.
In 1998, Americans Thomas Joseph Lonergan, 34, and his wife Eileen Cassidy, 28,
disappeared while diving on the Great Barrier Reef.
They were never seen again.
