Full Transcript Of Sultan Muhammad V's Speech In Conjunction With His Installation As 15th Malaysia's King, Yang Di-Pertuan Agong

KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 (Bernama) – The following is the full transcript of Sultan Muhammad V’s speech during his installation as the 15th Malaysia’s King, Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara here, Monday: Assalamualaikum Warahmatullaahi Wabarakatuh and Salam Sejahtera. Bismillahir Rahmannir Rahim. Alhamdulillah Rabbil ‘Alamin, Wabihi Nasta’in. Alhamdulillah, I indeed express gratitude to Allah, for it is with His Divine will, that I have been able to attend the installation ceremony today (Sunday). At this rejoicing, significant and historic moment, I am deeply touched and appreciate the presence of Their Highnesses the rulers, their vicegerents, consorts, as well as Their Excellencies, Heads of States and their wives at the installation ceremony today. I would like with great sincerity, to express my gratitude to His Highness my grandfather, His Highness my father, and Their Highnesses my siblings who gave me trust to assume the post as the 15th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong. I am confident that, with the spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding among us, I will be able to discharge my responsibilities more effectively, God willing. I also hope that Their Majesties the rulers can provide their views and advice to ensure Malaysia continues to uphold Constitutional Monarchy in this blessed land. I also feel humbled and honoured with the pledge of loyalty and love expressed earlier by the Honourable Prime Minister, representing the government, the civil service, security forces and the people, I would like to say thank you. Ladies and gentlemen, The year 2017 is of profound significance to me and also all Malaysians. Apart from my installation ceremony, we will also be celebrating our 60th Independence Day. I hope the National Day this year is celebrated in a festive and harmonious mood, moreover as the date falls nearby that of the Eid al-Adha, which is celebrated by all Muslims. As has been proven, people of all races professing different faiths, as well as varied cultures and lifestyles, are able to live together in peace and harmony and have mutual respect for each other. I hope Malaysians will remain as one in maintaining unity, be tolerant, and collectively assume their responsibilities to the state, because this has been our uniqueness and source of our strength all these years. Although our country has been hit by the economic downturn, specific measures taken by the government have managed to cope with the outside pressure on the country's economy, especially in dealing with the depreciation of the ringgit. In addition, the people have shown full support towards the strategies drawn up by the government to revive the country's economy. We will not be able to go further if we are not together in efforts to improve our economy today. National development efforts in the future need to be supported with quality human capital. Only with this, can we improve our productivity and competitiveness as well as explore and exploit all the advantages and resources that we have. In fact, the quality of human capital is a key determinant of Malaysia’s success in the future. Every Malaysian must play his or her role with responsibility, and not be negligent in carrying out their duties to the nation. To the younger generation, the country’s future, I say equip yourselves with knowledge and skills. I believe that there is no ‘full stop’ in seeking knowledge. Therefore, I urge all Malaysians, particularly the younger generation to continue to seek the knowledge and skills required by the country. Indeed, Malaysia is our only country. For the sake of this beloved country, let us together maintain its dignity and honour. Realise, that whatever the government is doing today will be inherited by the younger generation as the successors to the cause. All the opportunities provided by the government should be seized and fully utilised for the betterment of the country. I hope Malaysians will continue to adhere to good moral values and ethics. Be honourable, knowledgeable and respectable individuals who are aware their responsibilities to the country. Ending this speech, I would like to thank the government and the Honourable Prime Minister and his cabinet members for the support given to me to discharge the duties and responsibilities which have been entrusted.. I once again take this opportunity to say thank you to all parties who have congratulated me in conjunction with the installation ceremony today. I pray for our beloved Malaysia to continue being blessed, remain safe and peaceful, and for Allah Almighty to keep her away from distress, doom and disaster. Wabillahi Taufik Walhidayah, Wassalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakaatuh. (photoBERNAMA) -- BERNAMA
