IRClass Opens Office In Malaysia To Boost Asean Presence
KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 (Bernama) -- The Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass), an international ship classification society, is boosting its presence in Southeast Asia with the opening of an office in Malaysia after Hong Kong last year.
In a statement Wednesday, the Mumbai-based entity said the move is part of efforts at becoming a global classification society upon recognition by the European Union.
“With a greater presence in the Southeast Asia region, IRClass will be better positioned to offer its wide range of services through close proximity to national administrations, ship owners, shipyards and other stakeholders in the region," said Managing Director, Suresh Sinha.
To further solidify its presence in the region, he said, IRClass also planned to set up offices in Indonesia and the Philippines in the near future, and obtain “Recognised Organisation” status in these countries.
A member of the International Association of Classification Societies, it provides various services, including ship survey, technical inspection and certification.
