Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces visits Malaysia

BANGKOK, May 4 (TNA) – Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Gen Surapong Suwanna-at is visiting Malaysia to co-chair the 34th Thai-Malaysian High Level committee (HLC) meeting to enhance cooperation in Thai- Malaysian border areas. Gen Surapong and Malaysian Armed Forces Chief, Gen Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi bin Raja Mohamed Noor co-chaired the meeting in Kuala Lumpur from May 3-5. The meeting, scheduled to be held twice a year, is aimed at promoting cooperation to boost prosperity stability and mutual interest at border areas. During the meeting, the two sides acknowledged the follow-up report on the progress of works, assigned during the last meetings of the Regional Border Committee (RBC) and the Joint Combined Exercise Committee (JCEC). The Thai supreme commander also paid a courtesy call on Malaysia’s Defense Minister and Armed Forces Chief to introduce himself after he took his post in September last year. Gen Surapong inspected a guard of honor during a welcoming ceremony at the Defense Ministry and was presented with the Maroon Beret and the Honorary Wing. (TNA)
