Largest Quran Printing Centre In Southeast Asia To Be Lauanched Soon - Malaysian DPM

KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 (Bernama) -- The Nasyrul Quran Complex, the largest Quran printing centre in Southeast Asia and the second largest in the world will be launched in the country soon to expand and uphold the greatness of Islam, says Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. He said the government intends to make the complex as the leading printing centre in the world. “The government through the leadership of Prime Minister Najib Razak has pledged strong commitment to make the complex as the leading printing centre in Southeast Asia and the world. “God willing, we will see the printing centre launched soon,” he said when speaking at the closing and prize presentation of the 59th International Quran Reciters’ (MTHQA) by the Malaysian King, Sultan Muhammad V here tonight. Also present were the Penang Head of State, Abdul Rahman Abbas and his wife Majimor Shariff, the Melaka Head of State Mohd Khalil Yaakob, and Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki. The plan to build the complex located in Putrajaya was announced by Prime Minister Najib Razak as Finance Minister when tabling Budget 2015. The complex is expected to print one million copies of Quran annually to meet 70 per cent of the demand of the ‘wakaf’ in the country and 30 per cent of Muslim minorities abroad. In this regard, Ahmad Zahid said the government is committed to translate the greatness of Islam into the country’s education and administration without marginalising other religions, races and cultures. “Malaysia will enhance and develop the country through the concept of Islamic objectives which will be translated into the system of administration, social and culture. “The concept will be the gauge of the government from scientific studies and meteorological methods in implementing the objectives of Islam,” he said. On the ceremony, Ahmad Zahid said it is a platform to bring all Islamic countries together in honour of the Quran, which is the way of life of Muslims. “The event could also be a nucleus and catalyst to bring Muslims closer together. Muslims should indeed appreciate the true spirit of Islam starting with the appreciation of the Quran,” he added. -- BERNAMA
