Laos makes efforts to minimize impacts of global financial crisis

(KPL) The Lao government is taking policies to help minimize adverse impacts, triggered by the current global financial crisis, on its economy.
The government has announced to spend over 3,000 billion Lao Kip to support large projects and continue to deploy those with huge investments including hydro and thermo power plants.
The Lao government has also called on state-owned and private enterprises to take necessary measures to maintain their production as well as keep foothold ahead of the global financial crisis.
Laos aimed to achieve a GDP growth of 7.9 percent this year despite an estimated figure of around 6-6.5 percent by the World Bank (WB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
