Two Killed In East Jakarta Blasts

KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 (Bernama) -- At least two people were killed in bomb blasts at a bus terminal in Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta on Wednesday, according to reports by Indonesian news agency, ANTARA. Five civillians were also reported injured in the incident which saw two blasts within five minutes, suspected to be suicide bombing at about 9pm local time (10pm Malaysian time). The agency reported that the two who were reported killed were a male and a female. Those injured were rushed to the Jatinegara Hospital in East Jakarta. Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Zahrain Mohamed Hashim when contacted by Bernama said so far, no Malaysians were reported to be affected in the incident. "Currently, the incident is still being investigated by the Indonesian police," he said. Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra) Wednesday night said it was monitoring the situation, and trying to get the latest updates from the authorities. -- BERNAMA
