Malaysia's Sabah Museum And Taiwan Council Of Indigenous People Sign MoU To Implement Cultural Studies

KOTA KINABALU (Sabah, Malaysia), May 31 (Bernama) -- The Sabah Museum and the Taiwan Council of Indigenous People on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enable them to cooperate in the conservation of artifacts, cultural exchanges and research and development related to culture. Sabah Museum was represented by its director Sintiong Gelet while the Taiwan Council of Indigenous People by its general manager Chin Tseng Yung. Also present at the ceremony held at the Sabah Museum Complex were Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Masidi Manjun and the Taiwan Council of Indigenous People’s Minister Chang Parod. Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Masidi said he was confident the MoU would be beneficial to both sides, especially in research to unravel some of the culture and language similarities among some indigenous people in Taiwan and indigenous communities in east Malaysian state Sabah. "This MoU will pave the way for culture researchers of both parties to implement studies specifically, on the things that have cultural togetherness factors in Sabah and in Taiwan. We know that there are similarities between the cultures and languages of the aborigines in Taiwan and indigenous tribes in Sabah,” he said. -- BERNAMA
