Leaders “ make merit” during Vat Phou festival
(KPL) Lao leaders took part in the alms giving on 9 February morning at the traditional Vat Phou festival.
Among the leaders were Prime Minister Bouasone, Mr. Samane vignakhet, LPRP CC Politburo member of the Party CC who is also in charge of culture and ideology affairs of the party and high-ranking officials from central and local level. There were also thousands of Champassak residents and foreign tourists.
The Vat Phou temple complex was built towards the end of the 5th century. Local authorities have built an exhibition hall displaying archaeological material and relics from excavations at the site.
The collection consists of sculptures and ceramic items from Khmer period from the 7th to 13th century, as well as Lao-Buddhist art from the 18th and 19th centuries.
