Mekong Embankment Construction to take in shape this month

(KPL) The Mekong Embankment Construction Project in Vientiane will be commenced at the end of this month after the HHI Corporation of the Republic of Korea, signed a contract for civil work for Mekong river integrated management project with the Department of Public Works and Transport on 9 February at Don Chan Palace in Vientiane.
Signatories to document were Mr. Bounchane Keosithamma, Head of Mekong River Integrated Management Project and Deputy Director of HHI Corporation, Mr. Lee Ghoong Kyu.
Minister of Public Works and Transport Sommad Pholsena and South-Korean Ambassador to Laos Mr. Park Jae-Hyun witnessed the signing ceremony.
The Mekong River Integrated management project is a construction project of Lao government which received loan from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund of the Republic of Korea worth US$37.2 million.
The money will spent on the construction of Mekong embankment and a dyke running from Kao Leo to the km 3, with a road construction along Mekong river bank from Pakpasack junction to Thatkhao area. It will also spend on the construction of Chao Anou Public Park behind the Presidential Palace.
The Mekong embankment construction project will take in shape at the end of February and will compete within 2013, and the Chao Anou Public Park and Road along Mekong will compete within 2010 in coincide with the celebration the 450th anniversary of Vientiane Capital.
The construction project will be conducted by the HHI Corporation with worth of US$30.8 million.
