Putin thanks Kyrgyz leader for efforts to create solid basis for bilateral relations

MOSCOW, June 20. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has thanked his visiting Kyrgyz counterpart, Almazbek Atambayev, who is finishing his office term, for efforts to create a solid basis for bilateral relations. "We would like to thank you for your having laid a solid basis for the development of bilateral relations in the middle-term and, I hope, for a long-term perspective," Putin said on Tuesday at a news conference after Atambayev’s state visit to Moscow. "We know that the president of the republic [of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev] is finishing his office term," the Russian leader reminded. "I would like to thank him for what he has done to encourage development of the Russian-Kyrgyz relations and for what he is doing to develop and support the Russian language in Kyrgyzstan. We appreciate this very much." Putin thanked the Kyrgyz leader and members of his delegation for the constructive talks and expressed confidence that the documents signed during this visit "would work for the benefit of strengthening Russia-Kyrgyz cooperation in various spheres."
