Commerce Ministry supports upgrade of traditional retail shops

BANGKOK, June 28 (TNA) – The Commerce Ministry has launched a project to support over 5,000 traditional retail shops across the country by having over 130 model shops, training them to upgrade their shops and boost sales. Commerce permanent secretary Wiboonlasana Ruamraksa today presided over the opening of the project, under the collaboration of the government and private sectors, including the Department of Business Development, the Department of Internal Trade and the Thai Retailers Association. Under the project, these small entrepreneurs, operating tradition retail stores will be instructed by 132 model retail shops on management skill and how to boost their image to meet demands of customers. Building supportive network between large-scale model shops and small member retail shops will create sustainable development to stimulate the local economy, so small entrepreneurs can adjust themselves in competitive market. These traditional grocery shops will also be channels for selling consumers goods at lower prices under the government blue-flag campaign to help consumers cut their cost of living. (TNA)
