Malindo Air Launches Daily Flights To Phnom Penh, Chennai

KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 (Bernama) -- Malindo Air will launch two new daily flights from Kuala Lumpur to Phnom Penh (Cambodia) and Chennai (India), effective Aug 1 and July 24 this year respectively. Bookings are now open for the flights and in conjunction with the launch, the airline is offering an all-in return introductory fare to Phnom Penh for economy class starting from RM139 (US$1 = RM4.29) and business class from RM749. The economy class fare to Chennai starts from RM438 and business class from RM999. The promotional fares include perks such as baggage allowance, in-flight entertainment and in-flight meals, said the airline in a statement here, Thursday. “We are thrilled to announce these two new routes to our network. Both Phnom Penh and Chennai are rich in culture and both destinations have active travellers for trade and leisure. “The addition of these routes supports our continuous efforts at making the KLIA a transit hub, by connecting passengers to visit Malaysia,” Chief Executive Officer, Chandran Rama Muthy said. The airline said Malindo Air flight OD580 will depart daily from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 8.00 am and arrive at Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH) at 8.55 a.m. The return flight, OD581, will depart the same day from PNH at 9.45 am and arrive at the KLIA at 12.35 pm. Meanwhile, the code- share Chennai flight with Batik Air, OD9114 departs daily from the KLIA at 6.25 am and arrives at Chennai International Airport (MAA) at 7.55 am. The return flight, OD9115, will depart the same day from MAA at 8.55 am and arrive at the KLIA at 3.25 pm. By Aug 30, a second frequency will be added, making it two daily flights from Kuala Lumpur to Chennai. OD9112 will depart daily from KLIA at 8.55 pm and arrive at MAA at 10.20 pm The return flight OD9113 will depart the same day from MAA at 11.10 pm and arrive at the KLIA the next day at 5.40 am. Chandran said Malindo Air hoped to help boost tourism in Malaysia and the cities connected through its network. “Passengers from India, for example, can fly to Kuala Lumpur and further their journey to Indonesia, Australia or even Hong Kong or Taiwan. Our network is growing rapidly, especially with our progressive code share strategies, which aim to provide better connectivity in the region,” he added. Malindo Air is a Malaysian premium airline.
