Government to consider impacts of executive decree on foreign labor

BANGKOK, July 3 (TNA) -- The government was about to study the impacts of the executive decree on foreign workers, Prime Minister’s Office Minister Suvit Maesincee said. The new executive decree was aimed at making the Thai labour market standard and subject to examination and improving the quality of workers, he said. He assured that the decree would have no impacts on skilled workers who would work in the Eastern Economic Corridor. The government would study the impacts of the decree on small-scaled operators as well as small and medium-sized enterprises, the minister said. It was necessary to review the issue and decide if there should be any measure to prevent unnecessary difficulties among concerned parties. The imposition of the decree would be delayed for 120 days, Mr Suvit said. “The prime minister instructed reform but the reform must prevent hardships. It must not cause a shock and there must be a way out,” he said. (TNA)
