Iclif To Host Fifth Leadership Energy Summit In November
KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 (Bernama) -- The Iclif Leadership and Governance Centre will be organising its Fifth Leadership Energy Summit Asia (LESA) on Nov 8-9 this year to help today's leaders face challenges of an increasingly fast-paced 21st century.
Chairman, Zeti Akhtar Aziz said the summit, themed "Open Source Leadership " would seek to explore and expand on what it takes to be a transformative leader in this century.
"The concept of leadership in this century now demands new thinking that takes into consideration the increasing rate of change, the complexities of a more globalised world and the need for sustainability in the face of heightened uncertainty, " she said during the launch of the summit here Thursday.
She said Iclif had led the way as the first Asia-based international centre dedicated to executive education, research, coaching and consulting services in the areas of both leadership development and corporate governance.
Research and publishing new concept and insights into leadership as well as the corporate governance were accorded a high priority at the centre, she added.
Zeti said one example of research that has shaped Iclif's thinking and leadership development was a global research concluded in 2016 on "Open Source Leadership", authored by its Chief Executive Officer, Rajeev Peshawaria and his research team.
The study, designed to explore the form of leadership that is required to address both the new challenges and opportunities in today's more empowered workforce, saw the rights bought from Iclif by New York-based McGraw- Hill and would be in the market in the fourth quarter of this year.
Meanwhile, Peshawaria said LESA which will be held at the Sasana Kijang at Bank Negara Malaysia and is expected to attract about 500 participants.
They will have an opportunity to immerse themselves in understanding what open source leadership is from world renowned speakers.
He said speakers were selected in line with the theme but also to ensure that the sessions seamlessly integrate content that covers a global perspective as well as offer Asian insights.
Peshawaria said US$80 billion was spent annually globally on the leadership development industry, but did not bear fruit, due to misconceptions of leadership theories.
“Hence, offerings must be upgraded to remain relevant,” he added.
He said the summit would also be the platform to announce the recipients of the Iclif Leadership Energy Award in three categories, namely Corporate Employee or Team, Business Owner or founder and Social Entrepreneur.
