Duke Of Edinburgh's International Award A Programme To Help Young People Boost Potential Skills

SEREMBAN (Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia), July 10 (Bernama) – The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award for Young People, is a programme created to help young people all around the world to develop and recognise their potential skills. The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Foundation Secretary-general John May said the programme established in 1956, currently benefited about 1.3 billion young people involved in this programme from over than 140 countries. “I feel one thing that is really-really important for the young people of today is to learn the skills of behaviour, attitude that we need in order to be successful in life. “The more we can help, the more young people can develop their behaviour and attitude skills better,” he told reporters after a two-hour special visit to Persatuan Belia Dinamik Barat (PBDB) Negeri Sembilan here Monday. The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is available to all 14-24 year olds and is the world’s leading youth achievement award which equips young people for life, regardless of their background, culture, physical ability, skills and interests. Commenting about challenges faced by the young people of today, John said not just young people in Malaysia, but also the rest from over the world are facing the same challenges, especially finding a job. “The challenge is about finding yourself a job and making yourself employable. I feel learning should not just be inside the classroom in order to learn the true values because to be fully developed as a human being, you need to learn skills outside the classroom as well,” he added. -- BERNAMA
