Malaysia's Felda D'Saji To Open Branch In Madinah
By Syamsiah Sahat
KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama) -- Felda D'Saji Sdn Bhd (D'Saji), in pursuing its aim to be a leading “halal” provider in the hospitality and service industry is opening another branch restaurant in Madinah soon.
Felda Middle East Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Syed Fadhil Syed Sofie said the restaurant, which would be the third in Saudi Arabia, was planned to be opened next year following the success of the D’Saji restaurants in Makkah and Jeddah.
He said the company was now looking for a strategic location to open the restaurant.
“Unlike in Makkah, which is a buffet style restaurant, the D’Saji restaurant in Madinah will offer Malay and Arabic ala-carte menu,” he told Bernama in an interview, titled "Ekspresi Felda Negaraku Malaysia", which was held in conjunction with the 2017 Felda Settlers Day where the national-level celebration would be held in Putrajaya from July 21 to 23.
Syed Fadhil said the restaurant in Madinah would be opened in line with Prime Minister Najib Razak’s aspiration to introduce Malaysian food to the world and to facilitate Malaysian pilgrims to continue to enjoy local food during their stay on the Holy Land.
D’Saji Makkah restaurant will serve popular Malaysian food such as nasi lemak, roti canai, teh tarik, char kuey tiaw, as well as fast food such as pizza and hot dog. The restaurant also provides food catering service to hotels and apartments in the surrounding areas.
The D’Saji restaurant in Jeddah, which opened in June 2015, also provides food catering service for travel agencies from Malaysia and ASEAN countries, like Brunei, Indonesia and Singapore, besides serving the local community.
Meanwhile Felda D'Saji Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Zaki Abdullah said D’Saji in Malaysia has 15 years experience in catering service and it was well known among government agencies, the corporate sector and individuals from various economic background because of its affordable and quality food service.
D’saji , wholly-owned by FELDA (Federal Land Development Authority) and Koperasi Permodalan Felda Malaysia Bhd (KPF), started as a food catering organisation and in 1991 began expanding its business by offering catering service to government departments and agencies, as well as corporate organisations in the Klang valley.
Ahmad Zaki said customers satisfaction had always been D’saji’s priority where all food served would be tested to ensure they met customers’ requirement and expectation.
He said D’Saji had a staff of more than 500 people and they also catered for events, including wedding, convention and seminars at Dewan Perdana Felda in Jalan Semarak; Dewan Merak Kayangan in Datuk Keramat; Dewan Banquet Menara Felda at Persiaran KLCC; Dewan Gemilang Kelana Jaya and Dewan Besar Tun Rahah in Bukit Bintang.
D’Saji also operates at the KL Titiwangsa Floating Restaurant; Dewan Residensi UTM, Kuala Lumpur; Red Carpet Avenue The Strand Mall; Kajang Perdana Avenue; Dewan ISEF Bangi and Lake Cempaka Villa, Bangi.
D’Saji also served food for children at hostels and learning institutions run by Felda such as Asrama Semai Bakti in Kuala Lumpur, Kuantan and Johor Bahru , the Kolej Integrasi Ilmu in Mempaga, Kolej Integrasi Ilmu Raja Alias and the Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Trolak.
