Zayed Giving Convoys start fourth mission in Zanzibar

ABU DHABI, 18th July, 2017 (WAM) -- A joint medical voluntary team from the UAE and Zanzibar has started to treat thousands of children and elderly people through the Zayed Giving Convoys' mobile clinics in their 4th charitable medical mission carried out in response to an appeal from the Tanzanian Ministry of Health. The mission is running under the Zayed Giving Initiative with support from Dar Al Ber Society, Sharjah Charity International and the Saudi-German Hospital in coordination with the UAE embassy in Tanzania and under the supervision of the UAE Volunteers platform. It goes in line with the Year of Giving Initiative launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the directives of the country's wise leadership to reinforce the humanitarian efforts made by the country in response to the growing humanitarian needs in underprivileged areas. The previous missions carried out by Zayed Giving Convoys in the Zanizibar treated more than 3,000 children and elderly people. The voluntary UAE mobile clinics are supervised by the Doctors of Giving led by UAE cardiologist Dr. Adel Al Shamri, the Chief Executive of Zayed Giving Initiative, and include volunteering doctors from UAE, Tanzania, USA, France, Britain, Canada, Egypt, Pakistan, South Africa and India. Dr. Noufal Mohamed, a representative of the Tanzanian Ministry of Health, has extended deep thanks to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the generous and valuable efforts made by the UAE in areas of humanitarian action, stressing that the UAE always sets a role model in lending helping hand to those in need all over the world. Hailing the ongoing partnerships between UAE and Tanzanian public and private institutions, Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Executive Director of Dar Al Ber, said that scores of volunteers have expressed readiness to partake of the mission in Zanizibar, noting that coordination is under way to register all those willing to contribute.
