Call For Action By International Community Over Al-Aqsa Closure

By Muammar Eusouffi Zainol Abidin PALESTINE, July 20 (Bernama) -- The international community has been urged to take immediate action to prevent the continuing chaos over the Israel closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Palestine Chief Justice Dr Mahmoud al-Habash said Israel was still preventing Muslims to worship freely at the mosque. Mahmoud, who is also advisor on religious affairs and Islamic relations to the President of Palestine, claimed that Benjamin Netanyahu's government had created tension by changing the historical status of Baitulmuqaddis. “The Israeli action is a blatant aggression against Muslims and violates international laws,” he said in a statement quoted by the International Islamic News Agency (IINA). Mahmoud said Muslims had exclusive rights over the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the closure was an aggression against Muslims globally. On Sunday, Israel reopened the Al-Aqsa Mosque but had installed electronic doors and surveillance cameras which the Palestinians protested against. -- BERNAMA
