Malaysia to Host 62nd ISI WSC in 2019

KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 (Bernama) – Malaysia has officially accepted the inauguration of the 62nd International Statistical Institute World Statistics Congress (ISI WSC), which will be held here from Aug 18-23, 2019 and is expected to be attended by 2,500 statistical experts and data scientists from around the world. In a statement today, the Department of Statistics said, this year's congress (61st ISI WSC 2017), which was led by Chief Statistician Malaysia Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin, was held in Marrakech, Morocco from July 16-21, 2017, He said Malaysia’s participation in the congress this year was aimed at accepting the official handing over of the 62nd ISI WSC 2019 from the former host, Morocco, and to attend key meetings with statistical experts around the globe. Mohd Uzie, who attended the six-day congress as Chairman of the National Organising Committee of ISI WSC 2019, had also made a courtesy call on Ahmed Lahlimi Alami, High Commissioner for Planning, Morocco, to strengthen the networking in relation to statistical science. “In addition to this, strategic network with heads of national statistical offices and statistical experts have also been enhanced. “This close cooperation will lead to the successful implementation of ISI WSC 2019,” the department said. -- BERNAMA
