KUIN Capable Of Producing Next Generation Of Arabic Experts

KUALA KETIL (Kedah, Malaysia), July 26 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Kedah government-owned Kolej Universiti Insaniah (KUIN) is capable of producing the next generation of Arabic experts in Malaysia, according to Kedah Mufti Syeikh Fadzil Awang. He said KUIN was one of the educational institutions owned and managed by the state government which focus on empowering three fields of study, namely Arabic, Syariah and Usuluddin. “Although based in Kedah, it is our hope that KUIN can play its part in empowering and producing experts in these three fields, not only among students from Kedah, but also from other states in Malaysia and abroad. “We also hope that KUIN will become one of the leading hubs to spread Islamic teachings in Malaysia,” he said when met by Bernama after the opening of the International Conference to Empower Arabic Language in Facing Globalisation Challenge here Tuesday. Meanwhile, Education Ministry’s Islamic Education Division director Dr Azhar Ahmad said the ministry fully supported KUIN’s efforts in upholding the status of the Arabic language. He said Arabic is a popular and unique language, with easy-to-understand phrase formations. “This language was also the lingua franca for Muslims in dominating all disciplines of knowledge, and history has proven that Arabic-speaking Muslims once led the development of science and civilisation during its golden age. “KUIN is seen to be the catalyst for the development of learning and study of modern Arabic language in a comprehensive and interactive way at the grassroots level, especially in primary and secondary schools,” he said when opening the conference, representing Education Minister Mahdzir Khalid. The conference, which is jointly organised by KUIN and The World Organisation for Al Azhar Graduates (Malaysia) takes place for two days beginning Tuesday. A total of 115 working papers are expected to be presented at the conference, which is attended by over 600 participants from various educational institutions across the globe, including Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, Palestine, Algeria, Turkey, Tunisia, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates. -- BERNAMA
