Zayed Giving Initiative launches humanitarian mission to treat children and elderly in Sudan

ABU DHABI, 26th July, 2017 (WAM) -- The Zayed Giving Initiative has started its humanitarian mission in Sudanese villages to provide the best diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive services for children and the elderly under the supervision of a specialised medical team of doctors from the UAE and voluntary doctors from Sudan. The mission is in line with the ‘Year of Giving’ initiative launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in co-ordination with the Sudanese Volunteer Centre and ministries of health and social security. It is a joint initiative by Zayed Giving Initiative, Dar Al Ber Society, Sharjah Charity House, Saudi-German Hospital, and the UAE Societal Voluntary Programme. Dr. Adel Al Shameri, CEO of Zayed Giving Initiative, said that the wise leadership gives extra attention to voluntary work following in the footsteps of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Hisham Al-Reeda, Secretary-General of the Arab Foundation for Humanitarian Work and Head of the Sudanese Volunteer Centre, praised the UAE's efforts in the humanitarian field work in various countries across the globe. He said it has contributed to alleviating the suffering of millions of people through sustainable health and development projects. Beneficiaries hailed the humanitarian partnership between the two countries, adding that they benefit immensely from the free medical treatment.
