UK Parliamentarians Visit Malaysia's Melaka State Legislative Assembly

MELAKA (Malaysia), July 27 (Bernama) -- A delegation of four parliamentarians from the United Kingdom visited the Melaka State Legislative Assembly at Seri Negeri complex, Ayer Keroh here, Thursday.
The arrival of Baroness Northover (third from left) from the House of Lords and three members from the House of Commons, namely Sir David Amess (second from left), John Whittingdale (right) and Chris Leslie (third from right) around 11 am, was welcomed by Melaka State Legislative Assembly speaker Othman Mohamad (centre).
Also present were Melaka State Legislative Assembly deputy speaker Ab Wahab Ab Latip (second from right) and Health, Sport and Anti-drug executive committee deputy chairman Ng Choon Koon (left).
The delegation spent more than an hour visiting the State Legislative Assembly hall and exchanging views with Othman, Ab Wahab and Ng about the State Legislative Assembly system.
The visiting parliamentarians were also briefed about the Melaka state including the State Constitution.
Speaking to journalists after the visit, Othman said it was an honour and pleasure for the state assembly to receive the UK visitors under the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).
"They really love the bright and cheerful colour scheme in the assembly hall and the decoration we use that boost a good mood for our assembly. Functions of state assemblymen here also spark an interesting conversation between us," he said. (photoBERNAMA)
