Over 200 Nepalese Products Showcased At Mystic Nepal Exhibition

KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 (Bernama) -- More than 200 Nepalese handicraft products will be showcased at the three-day Mystic Nepal Exhibition at Hock Choon Supermarket here, starting Thursday. The event, organised by Nepal’s embassy here, aims to promote Nepalese products besides promoting the country’s famous tourism destinations to Malaysians. Ambassador, Niranjan Man Singh Basnyat said the festival was also aimed at attracting Malaysian investors to undertake joint ventures with Nepalese traders as the country offers products at cheap prices due to its lower labour cost. “With the promulgation of the Nepal constitution in September 2015 and successful holding of local elections recently, Nepal is now heading towards an era of political stability and economic growth and in 2016 alone, about 14,000 Malaysian tourists had visited Nepal,” he told Bernama after opening the Mystic Nepal Exhibition, here Thursday. According to Niranjan, the products were made in two different regions of Nepal which are North Nepal (cold weather) and South Nepal (warm weather) and these two regions had their own style and materials to produce things. Among the products showcased by the country famous for the Himalayas include thangka (Tibetan Buddhist painting on cotton or silk), organic tea and coffee, leather items, jewellery, medicinal herbs, hemp and felt items and metal items. Exhibition hours are from 10 am until 5 pm and is open to the public. (photoBERNAMA) -- BERNAMA
