Kim Jong-Nam's Murder Case Set For Mention Friday

SHAH ALAM (Selangor, Malaysia), July 28 (Bernama) -- The Shah Alam Court Complex here is the focus of the media Friday, with more than 50 local and foreign media practitioners gathered there to cover the high-profile murder case of Kim Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Some of the media members arrived at the court compound as early as 6 am to cover the case, involving two women charged with his murder, which had been fixed for mention Friday. Separate counters were opened the court lobby for local and foreign media members to register to cover the court proceeding, where they are required to undergo security check and not allowed to bring in their handphones, camera or recording device. The court has only allotted 20 seats for media representatives in the court room and no photographer or cameraman is allowed in. Security was tight. The accused in the case are Doan Thi Huong, 28, of Vietnam and Siti Aisyah, 25, of Indonesia, who arrived separately in a convoy of four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicles. The first convoy brought Doan. It arrived about 8.05 am, followed by the convoy bringing Siti Aisyah five minutes later. They were clad in bullet-proof vest. Doan and Siti Aisyah, with four others still at large, were charged with the murder of Jong-nam at KL International Airport (klia2) departure hall at about 9 am on Feb 13 this year. The charge under Section 302 of Penal Code carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction. It was reported that Jong-nam was at klia2 to board a flight to Macau when two women approached and suddenly wiped his face with toxic liquid which was later identified as a VX nerve agent. Jong-nam, who travelled with a passport bearing the name of Kim Chol, died on the way to Putrajaya Hospital. He had come to Malaysia on Feb 6. -- BERNAMA
