Malaysian NGO Urges UN To Be More Firm In Defending Al-Aqsa Mosque
MELAKA (Malaysia), July 29 (Bernama) -- A Malay non-governmental organisation Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI) has urged the United Nations (UN) to be more firm in protecting the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam.
Its president Mohd Ali Rustam said the DMDI said the key to the solution of all issues pertaining to Palestine and the Zionist Israeli regime, including that of the Al-Aqsa Mosque was in the hands of the UN.
As such, he said the DMDI would be sending a memorandum to the UN on Monday to stop the atrocities of the regime.
“This issue contradicts the UN Charter which should protect basic human rights but Israel does not respect the UN’s decision that Palestine must be free of foreign intrusion,” he told reporters at the Al-Azim Mosque in Bukit Palah here Friday.
Earlier, about 100 members of several non-governmental organisations as well as other Muslims held a peaceful anti-Israel gathering after performing their Friday prayers.
