KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 (Bernama) – A total of 2,607 officers and members of the Royal Malaysian Police will be involved in the 29th SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur (KL2017) this August. Internal Security and Public Order Department director Zulkifli Abdullah said the members would assist the SEA Games committee in various aspects such as logistics and protocol. "The involvement of policemen in the SEA Games is important because it indirectly helps the event move on smoothly," he told reporters at the closing ceremony of the International Practical Shooting Confederation Inspector-General of Police Cup and Royal Malaysian Police Open 2017 at the General Operations Force Central Brigade here, Sunday. Commenting further, Zulkifli said 114 officers and policemen were appointed as technical officers, umpires, national team managers, coaches and secretaries at the Games, while another 56 would be representing the country as athletes in various sports such as athletics, hockey, and boxing. -- BERNAMA
