All 25 Ministries Get Five-Stars Rating in AG Report 2016 Series 1

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 4 (Bernama) -- All 25 federal government ministries have received five-stars rating in the Auditor-General's Report 2016 Series 1. Auditor-General Dr Madinah Mohamad (pix, right) said Thursday, this feat is a first for the country. “For all the ministries to receive five-stars rating is not easy. This can be attributed to the secretaries-general who ensured compliance," she said in a media session on the Auditor-General's Report Series 1, here. In 2015, only 16 ministries received five-stars rating, while nine ministries missed out. The nine were the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism; Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Ministry of Communications and Multimedia, Ministry of Works, Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry and Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. "They (nine ministries) have considered the recommendations of the National Audit Department and ensure that all the things which denied them five-stars are improved. "This shows the commitment and alertness of all the secretaries-general. As the controllers, they did their best and managed to achieve five-stars rating for 2016. “Before giving five-stars, the National Audit Department will study the ministry’s internal documents to ensure that they are systematic and possess effective financial management that is legally required.” Madinah said in addition, the records need to be well maintained and regularly updated.
