SEA Games: Indonesia Top Group B After Beating Timor Leste 1-0

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- Indonesia strengthened their position for a spot in the men’s football semifinal after beating Timor Leste 1-0 in a Group B match at the Selayang Stadium, near here on Sunday night (picture). The win gave Indonesia seven point from three matches – two wins and a draw – to dislodge Vietnam from the top momentarily, since they have played a match less. The 9,000 odd Indonesian fans who had filled the Selayang Stadium, were not disappointed when Marinus Mariyanto Wanewar struck the only goal of the match in the 21st minute after receiving a pass from Septian David Maulana. Towards the end of the match, Timor Leste was reduced to 10-man when defender Filipe Oliveira was given the marching orders by the referee.
