Muslims In Indonesia To Celebrate Aidiladha On Sept 1

JAKARTA, Aug 23 (Bernama) -- Muslims in Indonesia will celebrate Aidiladha on Sept 1 following an announcement by the government that the first day of Zulhijah for 1438 Hijrah falls on Wednesday. The online media quoted the Indonesian Religious Affairs Ministry secretary-general Nur Syam as saying that after a meeting with astronomers and religious personalities on Tuesday night, all quarters agreed on the setting of 1 Zulhijah 1438H. "Wednesday, Aug 23 is 1 Zulhijah 1438 Hijrah. Therefore Aidiladha falls on Friday, Sept 1, 2017,” he said after the meeting, known as sidang Isbat. --BERNAMA
