Malaysia's World Championships Campaign Fizzled Out With Mixed Doubles' Exit

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian badminton squad’s challenge at the World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland ended with the defeat of national mixed doubles Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing in the third round on Thursday. Kian Meng/Pei Jing were beaten by Wang Yilyu/Huang Dongping of China in 15-21, 16-21 at the Emirates Arena badminton court. Earlier national number one singles player Lee Chong Wei was knocked out in the first round of the prestigious tournament while national men’s doubles Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong were shown the exit in the second round. Another men’s doubles, Chooi Kah Ming/Low Juan Shen also suffered the same fate followed by the defeat of two Malaysian professional players, Zulfadli Zulkiffli and Yap Rui Che in the men’s and women’s singles respectively. -- BERNAMA
