TH Concerned About Pilgrims' Safety Risks

By Elmi Rizal Elias MAKKAH, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- The Pilgrims Fund Board (Tabung Haji (TH)) is always concerned about the safety risks faced by haj pilgrims, especially involving accidents, theft, diseases, natural disasters and riots. TH Haj Risk Coordinator Badrul Hisham Mohd Salleh said these five incidents were considered safety risks which had happened in the Holy Land. He said in the event of an incident, TH would activate its Disaster Management Plan in the Holy Land which was developed in 2012. “We are constantly improving the plan,” he told reporters at the THi Headquarters in the Abraj Al-Janadriyah Hotel here. He said the plan was fully implemented in 2013 and had been reviewed four times so far. He added that the plan included all the necessary procedures that TH staff should follow if any of the incidents occurred. Badrul Hisham said TH had vast experience in handling such situations and the Guidebook for Haj Pilgrim Safety in the Holy Land had also been distributed to the pilgrims to reduce the risks. “In the guidebook, they can find information on the five safety risks and the steps that must be taken if an incident occurs. All the staff also know what to do if the emergency action plan is activated,” he said. -- BERNAMA
