Mohd Nafiizwan Cruises into HKFC International Squash Quarter-finals

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7 (Bernama) -- Top Malaysian squash player, Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan has advanced to the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong Football Club (HKFC) International Squash Open in Hong Kong, Wednesday. Earlier the tournament sixth seed had to fend off Farhan Mehboob of Pakistan in the opening round with a 11-6, 7-11, 11-4 and 11-4 victory at Hong Kong Squash Centre, according to the SquashSite, a website specialising in squash news. Mohd Nafiizwan will be up against second seed, Alan Clyne in the quarter-finals tomorrow after the Scottish player crushed Hong Kong qualifier, Chi Him Wong, 11-3, 11-6 and 11-3 in another first round encounter. The 31-year-old who hailed from the state of Terengganu is the only Malaysian player left standing in the men's competition after two other players, Elvinn Keo and Ng Eain Yow failed to clear their hurdles in first qualifying round on Monday. Based on the tournament’s format, winners in the opening round will advanced automatically to the quarter-finals. Malaysia did not send any women representatives to the tournament. -- BERNAMA
