State NGOs to Set Up Charity Fund for Rohingya Refugees

JOHOR BAHRU (Johor), Sept 7 (Bernama) – The coordinating council of the Johor (state) Affiliation of Malay NGOs or Majlis Penyelaras Gabungan NGO Melayu (Gabung) Johor is setting up a charity fund for the Rohingya refugees. Its president, Zaini Atan, said it would work with financial institutions on the suitable mechanism for the purpose. "Funds raised will be given to the Rohingya refugees in the country and also those at refugee camps in other countries,” he told reporters here Wednesday. He said Gabung Johor welcome other non-governmental organisations willing to work together for the cause. Gabung Johor is an affiliation of more than 1,030 NGOs , involving more than 700,000 members. -- BERNAMA
