MATRADE Invites Malaysian SMEs To Attend 21st Maritime Silk Road Expo

By Joan S. Santani NANNING (CHINA), Sept 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to attend the 21st Maritime Silk Road International Expo themed "Promote Regional Economic Integration Through Tourism" in Dongguan, China from Sept 21-24, 2017. Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) Trade Commissioner Zaimah Osman said the event could serve as a platform to promote cooperation between China and ASEAN in the fields of trade, investment, and tourism. "Due to budget constraints, we have to look for strategic partners who can work with us with zero cost to enable us to leverage the event’s pre-planned activities," she told reporters on the sidelines of the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) 2017 here Thursday. She said the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce, Malaysia-China Friendship Association and Malaysia Dongguan Association would also be taking part in the event. Zaimah said MATRADE’s five offices in China -- Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shengdu and Hong Kong -- were ready to assist SMEs wishing to obtain information on venturing into new markets. "Some of them may not know how MATRADE can help facilitate their penetration into certain markets. "If they have any difficulties, such as following up on business deals, they may refer to our offices in China," she said, adding that MATRADE's mission to promote exports had enabled many Malaysian companies to carve new frontiers in global markets. MATRADE is the national trade promotion agency. -- BERNAMA
