Laos, Malaysia further co-operation on education
Laos, Malaysia further co-operation on education
(KPL) A bilateral meeting to further the co-operation on education between Laos and Malaysia was held in Vientiane on 13 February. The function co-chaired by Mr. Somkiot Mangnormek, Minister of Education and his Malaysian counterpart Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein has mainly discussed their co-operation on education and science and culture.
During the meeting, the Lao sides expressed thanks and gratitude to the government and people of Malaysia for their assistance and support to Laos on educational development, especially the scholarships offered by Malaysian government to Lao students for further their study in Malaysia. The Lao side also informed its guest about plan on socio-economic development, strategy for education development in Laos.
The Malaysian side has confirmed its readiness to further helping Laos, particularly in 4 strategies for educational development of Laos which is being implementing. The Malaysia will provide English and IT teachers to the ministry of education.
At the meeting, the Malaysian side also invited artists of the Lao Art and Music School to visit and performance in Malaysia in June, 2009. The sides unanimously agreed to allow the senior officials from their ministry to jointly draft co-operation plan and MoU and the minister of education of Laos will be invited for signing the said co-operation plan and MoU in Malaysia.
