German F&B Festival Will Only Be Approved If Terms Met

SHAH ALAM (Selangor, Malaysia), Oct 5 (Bernama) --The German food and beverage (F&B) festival scheduled to take place at a supermarket in Klang next week can only be approved if the stipulated rules and regulations are met, said Selangor Menteri Besar (chief minister) Mohamed Azmin Ali. He said prior to this, he had approved similar programmes because the organisers fulfilled the terms and conditions including those outlined by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK). "We have given approvals earlier … not only this year but in previous years as well. However, the approvals were given when the organisers complied with the conditions which have been set,” he told reporters after launching the Empowered Women's Institute (IWB) here Wedndesday. He said this when asked to comment on the 'Centro German F&B Festival which also provides alcoholic drinks or beer, scheduled to be held on Oct 12 and 13. On Monday, Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said police stood firm with their decision in not allowing the event to be held after receiving information that militants may sabotage the event. Mohamad Fuzi said at the same time, he had advised MPK not to allow such events to take place in areas under its jurisdiction. MPK president Mohamad Yasid Bidin admitted that he had delayed approval for the permit following the organisers’ failure to comply with the stipulated conditions. Mohamad Yasid said among the requirements for the issuance of the permit was that the organisers must have prior approval from the police. -- BERNAMA
