AZERBAIJAN`S MINISTER OF CULTURE MEETS ISESCO DIRECTOR GENERAL



Baku, February 19 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s Minister of Culture Abulfaz Garayev has
met today with ISESCO Director General Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, who arrived in
Baku to attend the opening of the "Baku - the Capital of Islamic Culture – 2009”
culture year.

The sides discussed issues dealt with the 6th conference of the Ministers of Culture
of OIC member states, which is to take place in Baku, on October 2009. Mr. Garayev
underlined that agenda of the conference has been already prepared and relevant
works carried out. Minister noted that Azerbaijan attaches high significance to
relations with ISESCO. The events, which are to be organized as a part of "Baku -
the Capital of Islamic Culture – 2009” will even more expand the relationship.
ISESCO Director General noted that the event was highly organized. Baku is the very
important and historical city for Islamic culture and civilization, he said. Mr.
Altwaijri emphasized that numerous historical monuments, mosques, museums and
cultural objects have been destroyed by Armenians. ISESCO sharply condemns it and
believes that the occupied Azerbaijani territories will be released in the near
future, he added.
Following the meeting, Abulfaz Garayev and Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri held a press
conference and answered the journalists` questions.
