Clinton unveils Bosworth as special U.S. rep. for N. Korea policy+



SEOUL, Feb. 20 Kyodo -
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced the appointment Friday of
Stephen Bosworth, a former U.S. ambassador to South Korea, as special
representative for North Korea policy.
''I am pleased to announce, after consulting with our partners in the six-party
talks, the appointment of Ambassador Stephen Bosworth as special representative
for North Korea policy,'' Clinton said at a joint press conference after talks
with South Korean foreign minister Yu Myung Hwan.
Bosworth is dean of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts
University in Medford, Massachusetts.
Clinton said Bosworth will be ''a senior official handling North Korea
issues,'' reporting to her and as well as President Barack Obama.
She said Bosworth is a ''capable and experienced diplomat'' and will be ''a
great importance'' to the president, said Clinton.
