PM is satisfied with overall economic situation
BANGKOK, Oct 30 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is satisfied with the national economy that has been improving since his government took office in 2014, government spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd said.
“The Thai Industries Sentiment Index increased from 85.0 in August to 86.7 in September. It rose for the second consecutive month and peaked in six months in accordance with the manufacturing of industrial products such as automobiles and cement. The business of SMEs is also expanding in the latter part of the year,” Lt Gen Sansern said.
He also said that the value of Thai exports in September amounted to as much as US$21.8 billion that was an all-time high. The value rose 12.22% year-on-year and increased for the seventh consecutive month.
The government spokesman said that the prime minister emphasized economic balance in all dimensions including local purchasing power, local and foreign investment and exports. As investment and export were picking up, the government was focusing on the economy of people, especially low-income earners, he said.
“The government never leaves people behind. Therefore, it has implemented economic stimulation measures at the grassroots’ level including financial aid covering the residences, everyday life, medical treatment, travel and occupation of low-income earners. The measures will continue but must take time before making noticeable results.
So, the government would like people to understand and cooperate by improving themselves, changing their mindset, increasing the value of their products, and cutting unnecessary costs to accelerate the results,” Lt Gen Sansern said. (TNA)
