Royal crematorium attracts nearly 250,000 visitors in five days
BANGKOK, Nov 8 (TNA) - Royal crematorium and related exhibition have attracted 245,000 visitors in the past five days, said deputy prime minister Tanasak Patimapragorn.
Visitors are generally satisfied with one-hour tour as they do not have to wait in a long queue. Each round can accommodate about 6,000 people. The number of visitors will be evaluated every five days and it will be concluded on Nov 15 whether it is needed to extend the exhibition period.
If the number of visitors rises, the extension will be proposed to Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha to seek permission from His Majesty the King Maha Vajiralongkorn.
The exhibition which opened to public on Nov 2 is originally scheduled to end on Nov 30.
Besides having a close look at the elaborate royal crematorium of His Majesty late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, visitors can see the exhibition about the late King’s life-long works in dedication for the country and Thai people and samples of meticulous artwork of Thai artisans such as wood craving of a royal urn and gilding and decorating a royal chariot with glass mosaic tiles.
