No troublesome sign for mobile cabinet meeting
BANGKOK, Nov 11 (TNA) -- Deputy Defence Minister Gen Udomdej Sitabutr said he is optimistic there would be no troublesome during a mobile cabinet meeting in deep southern Thailand between November 27-28.
He said Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha will travel to Pattani province and then hold the mobile cabinet meeting in nearby Songkhla province.
Gen Prayut will inspect and order concerned government officials to speed up government projects in the South during the two-day visit, especially in the troubled three provinces of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat, said Gen Udomdej.
The three provinces have been rocked by bloody violence more than a decade ago.
He said security issue is not a problem during the upcoming meeting because the Fourth Army Region Command and security officials will be responsible to provide protection.
Gen Udomdej noted that most areas in the deep South are now safe and this can be seen from the current charity running of Artiwara Kongmalai, better known as famous rocker Toon Bodyslam, asking for donation from the people to help hospitals in the country.
Mr Toon has started running from Yala's Betong district bordering Malaysia and will end his charity running in Mae Sai district in Chiang Rai. He is now running in the southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat. (TNA)
