PM focuses on new agri theory at 25th APEC Summit

DANANG, Nov 11 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha on Saturday told participants attending the 25th APEC Economic Leaders’ meeting that what APEC could implement immediately are human development, building food security and to help support agricultural sector in its adjustment to the digital era. Gen Prayut said during his speech of the meeting, being held in Vietnam’s Danang city, that Thailand encourages agriculturists to implement new agricultural theory in accordance to the sufficiency economy theory, a philosophy introduced by His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and adapt it for use with the current modern technology. Speaking under the theme entitled "Innovative Growth, Inclusion and Sustainable Employment in the Digital Age’, Gen Prayut said Peru and Thailand are currently supporting “Green Business” to strengthening Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) which are friendly to environment, sustainable and are innovative. The APEC Strategy for Green, Sustainable and Innovative MSMEs is expected to be ratified by APEC leaders before this year-end, aimed at boosting capability and to also making the APEC to grow sustainability with innovation, said Gen Prayut. Thailand, he said, adding that is prepared to draft a plan and implement related activities and to also support APEC members to develop this strategy in future. However, Gen Prayut reiterated that in implementing the proposed issue, cooperation is needed by every sector and he hoped that APEC and these mechanisms would cooperate more closely in future to enable every group of people to enter digital era with full efficiency and equality. The two-day 25th APEC Summit ends Saturday. (TNA)
