2 private companies chosen to set up central milled rice markets
BANGKOK, Nov 18 (TNA) -- Two major companies have been chosen by the Commerce Ministry for the first time to set up and operate the central milled rice markets, said Boonyarit Kalayanamit, director-general of Internal Trade Department.
Two companies which operate Talad Thai in Rangsit and Talad Tor Yod in Bangkok’s neighbouring province of Ayutthaya have been approved by Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn to operate the central milled rice markets after operators of the two markets displayed their visions in July, said Mr Boonyarit.
He said the appointment will help facilitate and strengthen connections between the markets and the farmers while agricultural products can be easily sold at the two markets.
Thai Agro Exchange Company Limited Tawanna Night Bazaar Company Limited which were awarded as the operators of the two markets will be invited for signing memoranda of agreement in early December and they will take about four months to set up online systems and renovate their markets, said Mr Boonyarit.
